Welcome to the Country Guard family!
We are excited to have the opportunity to introduce some new peace of mind into your life in these increasingly *concerning* times.
We take great pride not only in providing you with the best technology which is available specifically to rural communities, farms, acreages, commercial security, and calving monitoring cameras, but also in the outstanding service and support which is synonymous with “Country Guard Security”.
While we hope you never have to use any of your equipment for the wrong reasons, we want to make this an easy and even exciting experience for you and are there to make sure you understand how your new system works, and be comfortable using all of its many features and abilities.
Country Guard security was founded with a simple truth and principle in mind. We strongly affirm that those who live in the country, whether it be on a farm or on an acreage, deserve the same level of convenience, protection and security that has been offered to those living in the city, and even better.
Further, as indicated by Statistics Canada, country properties, such as farms, acreages and small towns are now in need of viable security solutions more than ever before.
In Alberta specifically, country properties are being targeted more often and with heavier break-ins, as the energy sector in Alberta suffered a spiralling downturn in 2014 and has still yet to recover. The consequence is a large number of young men previously making 6-figures a year are now out of work, drowning in debt, and are unfortunately desperate to make ends meet. This is speculated to be fuelling the spike in crime Rural Alberta has been experiencing.
Buying surveillance cameras and security systems is a confusing task, especially when you have so much more ground to cover out on a farm or a rural property, so let us help you by eliminating any need to do any research, as the only one company that truly thinks about protecting farms, acreages and rural properties in Alberta from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed at night, passionately.
Let us Provide you with the best Security and surveillance systems for the Country, farm and acreage markets, the best Livestock monitoring systems, and the best Installation, training and service in Alberta!
Protecting your rural property from burglary
Did you know: Most burglaries happen in the middle of the day and are most frequent in the summer months
In addition to obtaining a security system/surveillance there are a number of things that you can do to prevent/deter rural crime. Some of these include:
- Keep your valuable out of sight; don’t leave your expensive vehicles, equipment or tools on display
- Avoid having heavy shrubbery around entrance areas where intruders could lurk out of sight.
- Place security system signs around the home, even if you don’t have a system. This might cause a prowler to look elsewhere for easier pickings.
- Use deadbolt locks on all doors.
- Install fences where possible around homes. If that’s not possible in the front yard, at least fence the backyard, where intruders might not be easily visible.
- If significant acreage is involved, post signs on property limits, access roads, etc.
- Never leave keys in vehicles and always lock them. Even if a window is broken, insurance companies will note that you took precautionary steps.
- Install motion detector lights in dark areas.
- Being vigilant as a community in deterring crime.
Get to know your neighbors and meet with them to establish a rural version of a “neighborhood watch” program. Neighbors who are home during the daytime can be very helpful in observing activity that seems out of the ordinary when others are at work. Get nosy and get to know which vehicles your neighbors are driving.
Use technology to your advantage-engage yourself and your neighbors in a group chat via text or whatsApp to instantly in real time report any suspicious activity to each other. Find out if your local police would be willing to join the conversation.
When solving rural crimes police look for things like tire impressions, footprint impressions and fingerprints but what is particularly helpful is video surveillance.
